Merchants began ten years ago in the beach side suburb of Swanbourne. 

Our first store, Merchants of Swanbourne, was born here when my Dad decided to retire and close his Hardware business after 35 years. It was both a sad and exciting day as one era came to an end and another began.

The old heritage building not only once housed my Dad’s hardware business but the top storey was also our family home for a few years when I was a child. 

I have many fond childhood memories of this building, when my husband Mike and I took over the premises, we tried to recreate this feeling of home by providing beautiful, unique products in themed rooms across the store. 

In recent years Merchants has expanded to a second store in the beautiful riverside suburb of South Perth. The store there has been recreated with Swanbourne in mind, with various rooms dedicated to the wares they are displaying. My favouriate is the children’s area with a castle gate entry.  

Merchants is a family run business, with a close knit team of wonderful people who make our business what it is, we are very lucky to have them. 

The Merchant team takes pride in their relationships with our customers and in sourcing quality and affordable products.

We have been told many times by our customers ‘that they can find a gift for everyone in our store’.

We have finally taken the plunge into the online retail world, which has been slightly scary and more work than opening up a new store, believe it or not!
